Mais après avoir pris le pouvoir au sein de l'entreprise, les trois frères ont oublié tout ce qu'il avait fait pour eux. Pour plaire à Xu Zhiwei, une stagiaire manipulatrice, ils ont accusé Nianchu à tort à plusieurs reprises et détourné les actifs de l'entreprise. Jiang Hongming fait un retour en force, gèle les avoirs des trois frères et soutient Nianchu pour qu'elle prenne la tête de l'entreprise familiale Jiang. Nianchu démasque les mensonges de Xu Zhiwei, élimine les traîtres au sein de l'entreprise, stabilise ses activités et rompt tout lien avec les trois frères. Ayant tout perdu, ces derniers tentent de retrouver leur ancienne position en profitant de l'influence d'autrui. Jiang Hongming les pousse délibérément à décrocher le projet du sud de la ville. Encouragés par Xu Zhiwei, les trois frères empruntent à des usuriers à des taux exorbitants pour commencer les travaux. Mais le projet finit par échouer, les laissant crouler sous les dettes.
