In a mountain village, young Li Ping'an tries to save his mother from evil sorcery. Chasing a little red fox that stole cured meat into a cave, he discovers it is caring for its own mother, who is tormented by soul-locking nails. The young fox speaks human words pleading for help, touching Ping'an's heart. Taking up his ancestral iron axe, Ping'an awakens its latent power with the blood of true benevolence, cleaving the Demon Suppressing Mountain to rescue the mother fox imprisoned for ten years. Repaying his kindness with a spiritual pearl, the red fox heals Ping'an's mother and exposes the conspiracy between the corrupt Daoist Master Ma and wealthy Liu Bancheng, who sought fox heart-blood for elixir crafting. United by the villagers' testimony, the villains are exiled, and the fox family watches over the village in gratitude.
