With a hand plane and an unyielding artisan's spine, young carpenter Lin Sun originally intended only to preserve the craft handed down by her father. Yet an old bridge and a fragment of a blueprint drag her into an affair sealed beneath years of dust. The account books are falsified, the timber irregular, and beneath the bridge lurks a secret no one dares utter. Though everyone urges her to stop digging, she insists on hunting down the truth through each mortise, each fissure, and each old balance. What she repairs has never been merely a bridge, but lives bent under the weight of fate.
