Shen Zhaochuan, an outer disciple of the Qingxuan Sect whose cultivation has remained at the third level of Qi Refining, is assigned to guard a tea hut in the back mountains. The radishes he grows and the humble tea he brews secretly possess the power to inspire enlightenment, attracting cultivators from far and wide. Without any peerless cultivation manual, he relies on his worldly wisdom to save a nearly bankrupt immortal marketplace, arrange food and lodging for a sect-wide gathering, mediate conflicts between the immortal and demon realms, resolve a great battle over the Spirit River, and rewrite the old order of the Nine Provinces. Even as he ascends to immortality, he still has his pots, bowls, and vegetable garden on his mind.
