Ye Tang foresees in a dream that her best friend Shen Zhinian is manipulated by the plot into becoming a vicious secondary female lead who meets a tragic end. When reality mirrors her dream and transfer student Pei Yan arrives, everything is proven true. Ye Tang pretends to pursue Pei Yan to hijack the storyline, only to run into Lu Yan, who has also awakened with prophetic dreams. Together, they discover that people around them are gradually breaking free from the script's control, including Wen Yiran, who was meant to be the universally adored heroine. Before things spiral completely out of hand, they decide to team up and halt this puppet show once and for all.
