Xiao Jing, a general of the Great Xia dynasty, unexpectedly travels through time to modern days and lands at the Matchmaker Temple, where he is taken in by single web novelist Song Shuyao. Unfamiliar with modern life, he wins her heart with his sincerity and tenderness. When Song's mother falls seriously ill and desperately needs money for surgery, Xiao Jing pawns his jade pendant—his only way back home—to raise the funds. Qin Yu, a fellow time traveler, pressures and forces them in order to seize the jade pendant.
