My Older Cousin Demanded an Outrageous Price, So I'm Done Putting Up With Her
Four years ago, breakfast shop owner Cheng Nian'an rented her older cousin's storefront for 8,000 yuan a month. After business flourished, her cousin suddenly raised the rent to 40,000 yuan. Nian'an immediately terminated the lease and moved to a location diagonally across the street. All her loyal customers followed her. When the cousin's old shop sat empty, she opened a copycat breakfast shop, attracting customers with cheap prices and inferior ingredients while charging relatives 300,000 yuan in franchise fees. After a food-review blogger exposed her shady practices, the couple secretly poured dish soap into Nian'an's water pipes at night. However, surveillance cameras captured everything, and they were taken away by the mediation center. In the end, Nian'an expanded her business and became even more successful, while her down-and-out cousin came begging for a partnership and was turned down. Their family ties had already been broken the moment the rent was raised. Skill and integrity are the true foundations of success.
