Heroine Shen Xiaoyou suffers from congenital asthma. Considered a burden from a young age, she endured exclusion throughout her youth. As a teenager, she rescued an abused stray dog and, empathizing with its plight, adopted it and named it "Mele (Mile)". Ten years later, Xiaoyou has grown into a beautiful and intellectual working professional managing operations at an MCN company, secretly dating her young, handsome boss Su Hang. However, an argument over differing values during a company meeting causes them to part on bad terms. Agitated, Xiaoyou suffers an asthma attack. Watching her struggle just as she is about to lose consciousness, Mele sees a slender hand suddenly reach out to grab the inhaler bottle.
