In a Year of Famine, the Whole Village Runs Out of Food: I Use a Piece of Hunting Bone to Keep the Whole Village Alive
During a devastating drought and famine, crops fail and the entire village runs out of food. Young Chen Wangshan and his family struggle to survive. His mother collapses from hunger, and when he goes to relatives to borrow grain, he is subjected to relentless humiliation by his cruel relative, Chen Fugui. By chance, he discovers a wild boar jawbone left behind by his grandfather. Upon touching it, he unexpectedly awakens a special ability that allows him to read the past movements of wild animals. Using the hunting bone, Chen Wangshan tracks animals throughout the mountains and forests, catches prey to feed his family, and resolves two major threats: wild boars and five-step snakes. He establishes balanced hunting rules to protect the forest. When greedy merchants in town monopolize the market and force prices down, he leads the villagers to a legitimate wholesale market in the county to establish new sales channels. However, consumed by jealousy, Chen Fugui sneaks into the mountains at night to steal the entire village's stored game and forest produce, only to be caught red-handed by Chen Wangshan.
