On the eve of the Mountain City's Wind Return Festival, the leading kite, the Azure Cloud Dragon Kite, suffers a sudden breakdown. Apprentice Shen Maiya and her close friend Qiao Qiqi follow Master Ye Zhixing to the Dragon Kite Depot in search of a spare wind-core. In the process of repairing the dragon kite, master and apprentice gradually resolve their misunderstandings, joining hands at last. As the annual Wind Return Festival in the mountain city approaches, the massive leading kite encounters a malfunction at a critical juncture. The young apprentice Shen Maiya is eager to prove herself, yet is consistently sheltered from vital tasks by her master, Ye Zhixing. When an old mechanical navigation bird, Kada, unexpectedly awakens and reveals the forgotten path to the sealed Dragon Kite Depot, Maiya and Qiao Qiqi set off in pursuit of her master, who had ventured ahead alone.
