Returning from grocery shopping one day, Hao Ren discovered his apartment building was on fire. Deceived by his neighbor Auntie Liu into believing his wife and child had already been rescued by firefighters, he rushed into the flames to save her daughter, Liu Lili, but ended up losing his own beloved daughter. In deep grief and fury, Hao Ren coughed up blood and died, vowing in his final breath never to be an indiscriminate do-gooder if given another chance. Opening his eyes again, Hao Ren found he had truly reincarnated half an hour before the fire. This time, he chose not to save Liu Lili, only to be relentlessly harassed by the unreasonable Auntie Liu and her disfigured daughter, who took him straight to court.
