In the middle of the night, female doctor Zhao Ting receives an emergency call from the hospital. Unable to hail a taxi in her haste, she accidentally gets into an unlicensed cab. Unexpectedly, the unlicensed cab driver, Zhou Hai, keeps raising the fare along the way, stalling and acting shamelessly. His delays prevent Zhao Ting from reaching the hospital in time, and the patient passes away. Just as Zhou Hai is gloating over the money he extorted, he discovers that the person who was waiting for Zhao Ting to save her life is actually his own biological mother.
