When a walking corpse plague ravages Dengzhou, High Priestess Yun Xi risks her life and turns her hair white to purge it. Returning to the capital by imperial decree, she discovers Emperor Zhu Zhen has broken his late father's betrothal oath, taking the fox demon Su Da as his consort. After Yun Xi exposes the demon consort, she is framed, coerced to dance for a dog, and stripped of her seat at the Imperial Observatory. As the Seven Star Lamps extinguish one after another, heralding the dynasty's doom, Zhu Zhen remains obstinate. Suspecting Yun Xi of adultery with Zhu Shi, he subjects her to the gruesome torture of three blades and six piercings. When the plague reignites and enemy forces invade, Zhu Zhen leads the army into an ambush, regretting his betrayal only after facing humiliation at the hands of his foes.
