Su Wanchui, a skilled cook, is maliciously framed by Steward Wang at a banquet in the Gu residence and expelled from the estate. Letting go of the injustice of her past, she sets up a humble food stall on an old street south of the city, warming the hearts of downcast and destitute passersby with bowl after bowl of comforting home-cooked soups and meals. Shen Yu, a scholar who failed the imperial examinations, and the kind-hearted Granny Lin are moved by her cooking and her clear-sighted, open-hearted nature. When the truth finally comes to light, the Gu family comes to apologize and offers her wealth, honor, and status.
