The Road Ahead Is Long and Far
Lu Manxi was born into a family that favored sons over daughters, where her parents had long treated her as a tool for securing benefits for her younger brother. Five years ago, Zhou Yanbei 'rescued' her from the hardships of her birth family and brought her into the Zhou Corporation to work. But she soon found herself trapped in another form of control and humiliation. Zhou Yanbei treated her like a servant who had to come running whenever he called and a tool to be used at his convenience, taking credit for her work while joining forces with his adopted younger sister, Jiang Yurou, to humiliate her. At a KTV gathering, Zhou Yanbei even made a bet with his friends over whether she would come running to do his bidding. At last, Lu Manxi finally saw the truth, dumped Zhou Yanbei in front of everyone, and walked away into the rain.
