A thousand years ago, Lin Fan, the Sect Master of the Lingxiao Sword Sect, sacrificed himself to protect his Dao companion, Linglong, and fell into a deep slumber at the bottom of the sea. Waking up a millennium later, the former cultivation world has turned into a mortal realm of withered spiritual energy. He accidentally rescues Xu Zhiyi, a kidnapped female CEO, only to discover that she is the reincarnation of Linglong—feisty and proud, completely devoid of her past life's aloofness. To keep her safe, Lin Fan lowers himself to act as a bodyguard, breaking branches to repel thugs with his bare hands, stopping cars with a single palm, exterminating assassins, and stepping on grandmasters, all while crushing the Zhou family of the Jinghai wealthy elite and the underground organization Tianmeng along the way. Modern political conspiracies crumble into dust before his divine sense and immortal magic, while Xu Zhiyi, amidst crisis after crisis, quietly develops romantic feelings for this ancient man in white whom she suspects has "advanced delusions."
