In the chaotic warlord era of Liudaoyuan, Gao Yue'e, the legitimate daughter of the Gao family, is supposed to honor her engagement and marry Lin Jingming, the young master of the Lin family and her childhood sweetheart, settling down as the Lin family's young madam. On her wedding day, the notorious bandit Xie Zhangchuan, known as the Blood Yama, leads his men in a raid on the wedding procession, demands a ransom, and abducts Gao Yue'e to his mountain stronghold, completely derailing her life. As they spend time together, Gao Yue'e discovers that Xie Zhangchuan is not an evil bandit. He attacked the wedding to thwart the Lin family's conspiracy to collude with a Japanese trading company, seize the land of Liudaoyuan's people, and build a military base.
