A greedy expedition leader cuts corners and takes kickbacks by bypassing an official supply station to lead novice climbers to a cheap, illicit camp, mocking safety guarantees as needless expenses. When a blizzard seals the mountain, power and oxygen run out, the camp operator flees with their money, and the climbers' lives hang in the balance, yet he hesitates for three hours over the rescue fee. Once the truth comes to light, his reputation is utterly ruined, teaching the entire industry that mountaineering has no shortcuts and safety allows no compromise.
