The Guaranteed Vegetables Whose Price Increased by Fifty Cents
Wang Cuilan suddenly proposed raising the price of every jin of vegetables by fifty cents, which Yang Zhuren, the school cafeteria procurement director, found hard to accept, decisively choosing to change vegetable suppliers. Wang Cuilan would rather lose the school as a major client than compromise, because she only grows healthy, pollution-free green vegetables, uses no pesticides or chemical fertilizers, relies solely on manual pest removal, and refuses to lower vegetable quality for low-price competition. Until students suffered mass food poisoning from eating toxic vegetables did people understand the value of guaranteed vegetables—the price was a bit higher, but what people eat does not burn the heart.
