Others Pray for Rain, I Lead the Whole Village in Composting Fertilizer and Growing Golden Waves of Wheat
In the severe drought of the 1990s, Qing Shui Town suffered a complete crop failure, and desperate villagers prayed to the gods for rain. Lin Sui, a forward-thinking agricultural technician, arrives alone in town and faces suspicion and criticism as she puts a stop to the rain-praying ritual. She leads the villagers in reclaiming wasteland, digging irrigation channels, and making compost in deep pits, transforming saline-alkali soil into fertile farmland. Facing drought and wheat rust disease, Lin Sui uses her scientific knowledge to guide everyone in making their own pesticides and harvesting day and night. In the end, they overcome the natural disasters, grow an unprecedented sea of golden wheat on barren land, and lead the entire town toward prosperity through science.
