Over the span of seven years, Xu Nian repeatedly passes by in places he cannot see, accumulating thirty-seven times. Reunited in Lhasa, a Polaroid reading Next Stop, Xi'an draws him back to the starting point. An old key, the golden retriever Nuan Nuan, and a wall full of photos gradually bring the truth to light.
