Lin Yan, an inheritor of Zhuxian Town woodblock New Year paintings, makes a living at a printing house while guarding the craft of carving pear wood. Intangible cultural heritage curator Su Wan invites him to set up an experiential exhibition at a mall and start slow livestreams at the same time. Fang Xu, an MCN boss, tries to remodel the New Year paintings with viral traffic, but Lin Yan turns him down. From friction to reconciliation with his stubborn master Zhou Guanglin, the two collaborate to create the 24 Solar Terms New Year painting series. As a non-profit team digitally archives the old woodblocks, Lin Yan launches online courses, finding balance between tradition and modernity so the dormant sounds of pear wood carving become a gentle force echoing far and wide.
