Journey to the West: The Holy Monk's Self-Cultivation - Season 1

128 episodesFullCompleted

Outside Chang'an City, Xuanzang stood alone in plain clothes, shaking heaven and earth with three questions to the Buddha, and volunteered to go west to retrieve Buddhist scriptures. Moved by his resolve to "save all living beings," the Heavenly Dao bestowed upon him the Sweet Dew Buddha Wheel for protection. Encountering demons along the way, he subdued them with his Buddha heart without a fight; beneath Five Elements Mountain, refusing to use the Tight-Fillet Spell and stating "I am not escorting a prisoner," he subdued the Great Sage Equal to Heaven. In the Kingdom of Skhari, where the common people had been turned into rats for a hundred years while gods and Buddhas watched coldly, he used his own blood to make it rain, finally granting the nation liberation. In Liusha River, he delivered three thousand lost souls, taking the Little White Dragon and Sha Wujing as his disciples. Within Wuzhuang Temple, he struck the spiritual roots three times, bearing endless karmic force with his body to break free from the cage of the Ancestor of Earth Immortals.
