To scrape together the bride price and support his family, he heads into the mountains to risk his life, catching red deer and gathering precious medicinal herbs. Relying on his reborn foresight, he struggles to make money within the cracks of the era. Under the matchmaking of the second sister-in-law, Dong Liangjie gets to know Ren Xiuxiu, the daughter of a medicinal herb scholarly family who has fallen on hard times after being sent to the countryside. The two develop mutual affection while gathering herbs together in the mountain forests, breaking through the obstacles of village gossip and old customs. While dealing with the gossip of fellow villagers and preparing to propose and start a family, amidst the mountain fields of the 1980s, they strive to forge their own warm and ordinary good days.
