A humble embroiderer, A Zhu (Wei Xianzhu), married the Fourth Prince and dedicated over a decade of painstaking effort to help him ascend the throne, only to be ultimately granted a cup of poisoned wine. Reborn back to the day of spouse selection, A Zhu gives up the crown prince with a promising future, choosing instead the sickly and gentle Fifth Prince. Together, they cleanse official corruption, bring peace and prosperity to the nation, establish schools for women, and aid the orphaned and weak. A Zhu dares to break free from the shackles of fate, stepping step by step into the public eye through her own talents, winning the recognition of the court and the public through practical work, and ultimately shattering gender fetters to ascend the throne as emperor, paving a completely new path in life for women everywhere.
