Jade Flute Prelude - Season 4
During the Yong'an period of the Great Liang Dynasty, the impoverished censor Shen Qingyan wore his official hat crooked, was poor in speech yet timid, yet held the common people in his heart. From investigating corruption in Jiangnan to reversing cases in the capital, from marrying a pampered wife to harboring the fugitive Xiao Jing, handling his father-in-law, and governing the South City, he used sincerity and humor to resolve crises, gathering around him a crowd of eccentric family members including the stern general Wei Changfeng, the sharp-tongued wealthy girl Su Jinyun, and the coward strategist Zhao Mingyuan. Amidst bickering and bustling, he solved major cases, won trust, and guarded the peace of the region. Beneath the uproarious absurdity lie responsibility, friendship, and growth—this is what a censor ought to look like.
