To maintain her persona as a melancholic girl, Lin Tingwan enters an S-rank horror instance equipped with the classic trio: a JK uniform, a scarf, and headphones. Cool and aloof on the outside, she is screaming wildly on the inside. The monsters are intimidated by her melancholic aura; she turns around to trim Sadako's bangs and tailor Slender Man's suit, converting them all into teammates. On a blood-rain night, she holds an umbrella and meets the ultimate boss, Gu Qinghe. With the line "being loved will grow flesh and blood," she makes his ears flush red. It is only when she finds his diary in his apartment that she discovers he was the boy locked in a basement and starved to death ten years ago—renaming himself Gu Qinghe for her, waiting under an umbrella until he turned to bone. When she clears the game and returns home, the very first thing she does is call the police.
