Princess Changle of Nanyue, Ye Zhuxi, was used by her royal father as a political tool to consolidate power through marriage to an influential court official. To please the consort, the Emperor hired tea master Gu Hanxun to teach the princess tea ceremony in the palace. The two fell in love at first sight, yet bounded by etiquette and rules, they could only pour their devotion into the art of tea, ultimately creating their own distinct style. As the wedding date approached, the Emperor discovered their feelings and flew into a rage. In the end, the Emperor secretly executed Gu Hanxun, while Ye Zhuxi unexpectedly gained eternal life and fell into a deep slumber. Revered as an auspicious omen by the royal family, her slumber also ignited an enduring feud between the Gu and Ye families.
