After discovering the truth about her birth, Wen Lichu is framed and forced to leave her home. With nowhere else to turn, she accidentally climbs into the sedan chair of Yan Shijun, a powerful court official, who takes her in. After their marriage, she faces probing and harassment from people in the household, as well as deliberate exclusion at banquets. From a timid girl who always backs down, Wen Lichu gradually learns to speak up about her grievances and stand her ground. Yan Shijun may seem stern and cold, but time and again, he steps forward to defend her and ensure she receives justice whenever others mistreat her. He also helps her understand that being treated with kindness is not a matter of luck; she must first learn to stand tall herself. When the people who once schemed against her return, pretending to make amends, Wen Lichu no longer hides or avoids them. Instead, she chooses to face them openly.

Sin tener adónde ir, acaba entrando por accidente en el palanquín de Yan Shijun, un poderoso alto funcionario, quien la acoge.
