The newly appointed jail warden, Lin Yan, arrives at Qingxi County Yamen. Facing lazy runners, pressure from the Zhang Manor, and years of backlogged cases, he starts with a minor street-stall dispute—setting new rules, straightening out the runners, auditing account books, solving the drapery shop mystery, and pursuing granary shortages. The cold-faced female constable Shen Shuang and the sharp-witted Qian Guan join him one after another, gradually rebuilding the yamen's public trust. The people finally witness justice echoing in the courtroom. But as ancient door fragments surface, the deepest cold cases of Qingxi begin to emerge. A historical suspense tale of rules and human hearts unfolds.
