Qingxi Genealogy Records: I Wrote the Emperor into the Family Tree
On the night the imperial decree arrived, Gu Mingtang, daughter of a commoner genealogist, refused to take her own life and instead fought to survive. She picked up her brush and entered the reigning Emperor Xiao Jingheng's name into the Gu family genealogy, placing him under the name of her missing paternal aunt, Gu Hanzhang. Using blood ties as her chess pieces, she gambled everything to stay alive. When the Qingxi master genealogy was burned down by the imperial relatives, she summoned the married daughters of the Gu family, each carrying secretly preserved branch genealogies, to confront the authorities in the capital. Step by step, she uncovered the falsified origins of the late Empress Dowager Gu Hanzhang. With a single volume of an ordinary family's genealogy, she shook the secrets behind imperial power and restored the rightful names of all the women erased from history.
