This Car, You Can't Afford to Compensate for It
Jiang He, chief engineer at the Nancheng Automotive Research Institute, drives the one-of-a-kind prototype car, Black Rice, to the Chen Group for a blind date. The institute spent eight years building this car. Outside the building, Lin Na, a secretary driving under the influence, crashes into Jiang He's car and then demands 8 million yuan in compensation from her. Chen Hao, her blind date, sees her wearing a T-shirt and driving an electric car and assumes she is just a driver, publicly calling off their engagement. Determined to secure the research institute's battery contract, Chen Hao manipulates public opinion by editing videos, files a false police report to have the car impounded, and even visits Jiang He's father to pressure him. On the day of the evaluation, Jiang He takes the seat of honor as head of the review panel and uses the car's onboard footage to reveal the truth. Lin Na then plays a recording of Chen Hao's voice, and the Chen Group's battery is disqualified after failing the road tests.

Davanti all'edificio, Lin Na, una segretaria che guida in stato di ebbrezza, si schianta contro l'auto di Jiang He e poi pretende da lei un risarcimento di otto milioni di yuan. Chen Hao, l'uomo con cui Jiang He deve incontrarsi, la vede in maglietta alla guida di un'auto elettrica, la scambia per una semplice autista e annulla pubblicamente il fidanzamento. Il giorno della valutazione, Jiang He siede al posto d'onore in qualità di capo della commissione esaminatrice e usa le registrazioni della telecamera di bordo per rivelare la verità. Lin Na riproduce sul posto una registrazione della voce di Chen Hao, mentre le batterie del Gruppo Chen vengono escluse per non aver superato i test su strada.
