In 1984, after village youth Lin Zhou split off from the family to live on his own, relying on diligence and wisdom to catch fish at sea and catch crabs on the tidal flats, he soon led a prosperous life through his skills. He treated others with integrity, shared profits fairly with partners to achieve prosperity together, and was enthusiastic about teaching villagers his craft and helping out in times of crisis. He was neither greedy nor lazy, self-reliant and strong, and mutual-aiding with neighbors, demonstrating the spiritual outlook of labor enrichment, integrity, and friendliness in the reform and opening-up era.
