Educated youth Fang Weiguo carries memories of his past life as he returns to a rainy night in the 1970s. That night, he runs into traffickers abducting female educated youth Lin Wanqiu. In his past life, he acted righteously to save her, only to be falsely accused by her of hooliganism. Ultimately, not only did he miss out on the recommendation quota to return to the city, but his father also died a miserable death. In this lifetime, he chooses to turn around and leave. Having lost the predetermined chance to return to the city, he grinds his teeth and studies desperately, seizing the opportunity of the restored college entrance examination, and enters a provincial university through sheer strength. However, Lin Wanqiu's older brother insists that he was in the know that night, clinging stubbornly and refusing to let go.
