I Take a Godmother in Northeast China
Wang Guilan, a middle-aged woman from Northeast China, runs an old-fashioned restaurant that is on the verge of closing down, and money is tight. Her daughter, Zhang Wen, goes traveling and asks her mother to take in Lin Wan, a young woman from southern China who has traveled a long way to seek refuge with her and is devastated by a string of misfortunes. Without prying into her past, Wang Guilan gently keeps her company through the warmth of everyday life, gradually helping her heal. Surrounded by the warmth of the courtyard and the restaurant, Lin Wan slowly regains her zest for life. With her knowledge of new media, she starts making short videos documenting the restaurant's daily life. The authentic charm of ordinary life unexpectedly goes viral, bringing the old restaurant back to life. The two women heal each other in their own ways. Lin Wan finally lets go of her past attachments, chooses to stay in the little courtyard in Northeast China, and begins a new life.

Wang Guilan, una mujer del nordeste de China, regenta un antiguo restaurante de comida casera que está al borde del cierre y atraviesa dificultades económicas. Su hija, Zhang Wen, se marcha de viaje y le pide que acoja a Lin Wan, una joven del sur de China que ha recorrido un largo camino para buscar refugio con ella tras sufrir un desengaño amoroso y perder su empleo.
