Villager Lei Jianmin has endured a lifetime of bullying from his neighbor, Liu Desheng. Despite their agreement to build three-story houses of equal height, Liu breaks his promise and illegally constructs a five-story building, overshadowing the Lei family's home and Feng Shui while subjecting them to endless humiliation. Lei Jianmin's son, Lei Zhiyuan, returns to the village after completing his architectural studies. Witnessing his family being mistreated, he uses his professional expertise to dig a basement in his own courtyard, accelerating the subsidence of the Liu family's already unsafe building. The Liu family's building eventually collapses, their family falls apart, and the wicked suffer the consequences of their own actions. After numerous confrontations and disputes, both families finally let go of their longstanding grudges. The Lei family enjoys a happy reunion and achieves success in their endeavors.
