After Dong Lai's parents passed away early, his aunt Dong Fang and her family persuaded him to run a supermarket by offering him a storefront at a low rent. Once his business became successful, however, they raised the rent for three consecutive years, eventually tripling it and demanding that he pay three million yuan. Dong Lai refuses to give in and decisively terminates the lease. He then spends twenty million yuan to purchase a struggling shopping mall across the street, leading his employees to expand the business and build an honest shopping mall of his own. Dong Fang and her husband, Zhao Dabao, are convinced that Dong Lai will inevitably fail after leaving such a prime location.
