In the fifteenth year of Zhenguan, an imperial edict for a marriage alliance thrust a sixteen-year-old girl of the imperial clan from the peonies of Chang'an to the snowy plateau three thousand miles away. Using the ancient Tang-Tibet road as its canvas and the song "Return to Chang'an" as its soul, this 60-episode series tells the life of Princess Wencheng: bidding farewell to her mother, crossing the Sun and Moon Mountain, weeping and maturing by the Daotang River, meeting at Bohai, the grand wedding at the Potala Palace, planting peonies, weaving pulu fabric, holding court, and erecting the Tang-Tibet Alliance Monument—she planted Chang'an into the snowy plateau.
