In the late 1980s, Lin Wenfeng, now a successful businessman, returns to his village on a special trip to repay Wang Guixiang, a peasant woman who saved his life during hard times. Years ago, when he fell destitute and ill, Wang Guixiang disregarded her own poverty to bring him food and soup. Now, Lin Wenfeng rebuilds her house and sponsors her children's education. Consumed by jealousy, her nephew Liu Mancang spreads rumors, causes trouble, and tries to seize benefits, only to be exposed repeatedly in public. When the truth finally comes to light, Liu Mancang genuinely repents. Wang Guixiang's family tastes sweetness after hardship, and their story of kindness and gratitude becomes a cherished tale throughout the village.
