Everyone calls Li Ergou a rustic rascal. Penniless and destitute, he is constantly bullied and harassed by the village tyrants and thugs. Yet he possesses an unyielding spirit and a sharp mind, refusing to resign himself to fate. Most villagers look down on him, but Su Qing always stands by him with trust and support. Seizing opportunities in the mountains, Ergou reclaims land and starts his own business, overcoming traps and conflicts every step of the way. Unwilling to hoard wealth alone, he leads the whole village toward prosperity. Together with Su Qing, deeply rooted in the rural soil, he fights off villains, develops local industries, and stages a grassroots peasant's passionate rise to success.
