Lin Shan, who failed the college entrance exam, did not give up on himself. Returning to the great mountains that raised him, armed with a pair of discerning eyes and diligent hands, he traversed the mountains to find rare mountain goods. Operating with integrity and living an honest life, he carved out a world of his own from the mountain paths. Never forgetting his roots despite his wealth, he donated funds to build roads, schools, and hospitals for his hometown, established a medicinal herb processing plant, and allowed the villagers to live prosperous lives right at their doorsteps. He also guarded the mountains and protected the forests, turning Hutou Mountain into an ecological medicinal herb base. The great mountains raised him, and he repaid the mountains with his entire life, passing this sense of responsibility on to his fellow villagers and leaving it to future generations.
