Unwilling to Attend the Marquis's Appointment
Young General Yan and the woman he loves are at odds. During a palace banquet, he hides a branch of late-blooming magnolia. He declares that whoever finds the flower will become the General's wife. The noble young ladies all turn around, searching for where the magnolia branch has fallen. I say nothing, quietly kicking the flower away from behind my seat. The next moment, Yan Ci's nonchalant voice rings out: "I wonder which young lady has picked up this subordinate's flower?"
