In the 1990s, the chili peppers in Baiyang Village had a bumper harvest. To sell for more money, the villagers sprayed water into the chili peppers to increase their weight. Black-hearted merchants seized the opportunity to raise prices and set up contract traps, wanting to make exorbitant profits from the wet chili peppers. Zhou Chang'an saw through the conspiracy and tried his best to dissuade them, but suffered misunderstanding from the whole village. Seeing that hundreds of thousands of catties of chili peppers were about to mold and go to waste, he led the villagers to race against time to rescue the chili peppers, stuck to the bottom line of quality, collected evidence to expose the scam, established a production and marketing cooperative, and won back the lost reputation of the whole village with solid quality.
