Set against the backdrop of political maneuvering in the Dayong court, Empress Li Ruoxi, who reigns over the empire, is viewed as a thorn in the side of her imperial uncle, Prince Su. He secretly sets a malicious trap aiming to ruin the Empress's reputation and usurp the throne. To root out the traitorous faction, the Empress lays a trap to draw the snake out of its hole, pushing Gu Jiu'an, Chief Chief Eunuch of the Imperial Presence, to the forefront and using him as bait to stir up the court. Resourceful and enduring, Gu Jiu'an steps up despite being in the whirlpool of suspicion. Holding the imperial gold token, he thoroughly investigates the truth, breaking through layered disguises to expose the scapegoat, and eventually infiltrates the Prince's palace at night to secure ironclad evidence of treason. He assists the Empress in quelling the rebellion in the imperial hall, purging treacherous ministers and securing the Dayong realm.
