On the day of her wedding, Shen Huali, the legitimate daughter of the Duke of Zhenguo, is publicly abandoned at the altar by her childhood sweetheart and fiancé, Xiao Tingyun, who flees to be with the woman he loves, turning her into the laughingstock of the entire capital. Just as everyone waits to witness the downfall of the Shen family, Xie Jingyuan, Marquis of Yongning, a cold-hearted war god and the Xiao family's sworn enemy, steps into the wedding hall and proposes to her in front of everyone. From the humiliation of a broken engagement to a triumphant second marriage, from court intrigues to questions of genuine and false affection, schemes, betrayal, and revenge follow one after another. When the man who once abandoned her finally regrets his actions, and long-hidden truths gradually come to light, Shen Huali finally understands that the man truly worthy of spending her life with was never her childhood sweetheart, but the man who had silently protected her for years.
