On the way to his girlfriend's home for New Year's Eve dinner with his mother, Ning Xuan's girlfriend received a call from her childhood friend and abandoned them by the roadside. As a result, his mother suffered a fatal heart attack in the freezing cold. Ning Xuan broke up with her, but unaware of his mother's death and assuming he was just throwing a tantrum, she scheduled an engagement banquet for seven days later. Little did she know, that day would mark Ning Xuan leaving with his mother's ashes on a journey around the world. At the engagement banquet, she waited in vain for Ning Xuan, only to receive a box containing his mother's death certificate.
