Lu Changhe, an electrician at the No. 2 Cotton Mill, worked hard for many years, yet could not even afford a bowl of noodles costing eighty-five cents after getting off work. Facing the heavy pressures of life, he did not become disheartened; instead, carrying his old tool bag, he started from repairing small household appliances, step by step winning recognition through his superb craftsmanship and integrity. With the support of his fellow workers and Ye Qiuping, he founded the Yongming Electromechanical Repair Department, living out a brighter life as an ordinary person and understanding that a truly good life must be created with one's own hands.
