Selling Cucumbers Cheap for Two Yuan Two, the Whole Village Laughs at Me as Foolish
A blizzard is coming. Vegetable vendor Zhou Licheng returns to his village to collect cucumbers, offering two yuan two. The whole village hoards their vegetables waiting for prices to rise, except for Old Liu, who is burdened with debt, grits his teeth and sells out his two sheds of cucumbers, becoming the laughingstock of the entire village. That very night, the blizzard strikes the village, causing sheds to collapse and vegetables to rot. After the snow, prices rise to four yuan two, but the roads are blocked and the vegetables are old, leaving those who waited for high prices with total losses. Only Old Liu clutches his hard-earned money, pays off his debts, and sleeps peacefully. Money not in hand is just someone else's count.
