The youth Gu Xiaohe serendipitously saves the immortal Jinful Xianweng. After enduring trials, he obtains seven divine gourd seeds, which grow into seven supernatural gourds capable of producing grain, yielding water, distinguishing poison, and repairing objects. During a severe drought, he strictly obeys the admonition to use the gourds only for emergencies, but is forcibly stripped of the treasure gourds by the wealthy landowner Wei Wancang. Wei Wancang wantonly abuses the treasures to accumulate wealth crazily, bringing about a backlash. The dark gourd awakens to reclaim what was gained through greed, the divine gourds return, and everyone comes to understand that "they can be used to relieve emergencies, but not to nurture greed," knowing contentment is truly the greatest blessing.
