Shen Qingyi, the daughter of a merchant, entered the palace and won the Emperor's favor, only to be framed by the all-powerful Empress Gu, who caused her miscarriage and banished her to the cold palace. With the wholehearted aid of the deposed consort Su Wan, she saw through the Empress's deadly web of traps and staged a thrilling escape beyond the crimson walls by feigning death. Burdened by palace blood debts and her family's survival, Shen Qingyi resolutely embarked on a path of vengeance and flight. She must not only travel south to Jiangnan to unearth the salt tax ledgers exposing the Gu clan's embezzlement, but also journey west to Yumen Pass to gather ironclad evidence of their treasonous collusions. This is a game of life and death with the realm as the chessboard—watch how an ordinary woman turns the tide against all odds, strategizing step by step to bring down a tyrannical power.
